Stories of Pet Wellness: One Health Organization & Firestone Park Veterinary Clinic

In the heart of Akron, Ohio, there exists a beacon of hope and compassion for pets and their loving owners. This beacon shines brightly through the remarkable partnership between One Health Organization and Firestone Park Veterinary Clinic. The driving force behind this collaboration? None other than the Sigler brothers - Dr. Robert G. Sigler, DVM and Dr. William K. Sigler, DVM.  Pictured above from left to right: Dr. Anna M. van Heeckeren (One Health Organization), Dr. Bob Sigler, Stacy (Firestone Park Clinic Manager), and Melissa Elick (One Health Organization).

The Sigler Brothers: Pillars of Compassionate Care

The Sigler brothers are not just renowned veterinarians; they are pillars in the Akron community. Their unwavering passion for providing exceptional veterinary care is complemented by their commitment to serving pet owners, especially those on limited incomes. Their dedication stems from a profound understanding that every pet deserves a chance at a healthy and happy life, regardless of their owner's financial circumstances.

Veterinary Care Voucher Program: A Lifeline for Pet Owners

Central to this partnership is the Veterinary Care Voucher Program initiated by One Health Organization. The Voucher Cards are lifelines for pet owners struggling to afford essential veterinary care for their beloved dogs and cats.

The Voucher Cards cover a comprehensive range of veterinary services, from annual wellness visits that include physical exams, disease tests, and core vaccinations, to specialized care for sick pets. With a value of up to $250, these cards are designed to cover the basic veterinary needs of a healthy dog or cat for one year. However, for pet owners with puppies, kittens, or sick pets, the costs can often exceed this amount. Regardless of the kind of care these beloved pets need, they can use their Voucher Card to cover most veterinary-recommended expenses.

Why Veterinary Clinics Accepting Voucher Cards Matters

It is crucial for veterinary clinics to accept these Voucher Cards as they provide an essential safety net for pet owners in need. One Health Organization stands as a trusted resource in Northeast Ohio, ensuring that veterinary clinics are paid directly and promptly for their services. This streamlined process eliminates financial barriers, allowing pets to receive timely care without compromising their health.

A Heartwarming Tale of Hope and Healing

Dr. Bob Sigler recently shared a touching story that encapsulates the impact of this partnership. A few weeks ago, he helped a client from One Health Organization who had fallen on hard times and became unemployed. The client was devastated, worrying about how she would afford the care her cat desperately needed for early hyperthyroidism.

With Dr. Bob's expertise and the assistance of a voucher from One Health Organization, the cat began its journey toward recovery. Dr. Bob expressed his gratitude, saying, "Good Job One Health!" Comparing this experience to seeking assistance from another popular agency for a grant, Dr. Bob highlighted the stark contrast in efficiency. While the grant took approximately three weeks to materialize, One Health Organization provided payment within days of the cat's visit to the clinic.

What Can the Community Do to Help?

The partnership between One Health Organization and Firestone Park Veterinary Clinic is a testament to what can be achieved when compassion meets collaboration. Through the Veterinary Care Voucher Program, One Health Organization is not only providing access to essential veterinary care but also restoring hope and peace of mind to pet owners in Akron, Ohio. As Dr. Bob Sigler's story illustrates, their impact extends far beyond medical treatment; they are changing lives one pet (and their person) at a time.
