To Stay Healthy - 3UP!

img-header

If you live with a pet (i.e. you are a One Health Family), you need to know how pets and people can live healthy at home. One easy way to remember this is to 3UP!

To 3UP is to:

  1. Vet Up
  2. Pick Up
  3. Wash Up
Vet Up Vet Up: Take your pet to a veterinarian at least once a year to make sure they are current on vaccinations and are parasite free. Your veterinarian may recommend more frequent visits if there is a health problem that needs to be addressed, particularly if it can lead to pain and distress. Are you looking for a veterinarian? Consider one of our veterinary partners!
Pick Up Pick Up: Pick up your pet's waste and dispose of properly. Or, as the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District likes to say, "Pick Up Poop!" Don't flush it down the toilet. Put it in a bag and throw it in the regular trash. Keep the environment where you live, work, and play free of debris and garbage. Don't let water sit anywhere still for more than a day or it can be a great spot for mosquitoes to breed.
Wash Up Wash Up: Wash your hands after handling pet waste, before preparing food, and before eating. Wash your hands before putting them near your face. A message that your public health department and Board of Health has been telling everyone for years!
